Collaborations to Scale Flexible Film Recycling in the US

While plastic film recycling has long been a challenge in the U.S., there is an ever-increasing need to improve the effectiveness and scalability. This session will explore how the Flexible Film Recycling Alliance (FFRA) is working to grow and improve flexible film collection and recycling in the U.S. through reporting, verification, and industry collaboration. The FFRA advocates for all forms of collection and recycling - including curbside, Store Drop-off, and subscription-based services - and with support from peer organizations, new initiatives have taken shape to align industry efforts, close data gaps, and incentivize and educate consumers on film recycling. These groups have also taken great care to ensure these efforts work within emerging EPR for packaging programs. Join us for an in-depth look at the early outcomes of these collaborative efforts, lessons learned so far, and what's needed next to continue to scale flexible film recycling in the U.S.
