How much value do consumers place on packaging recyclability when selecting a product to purchase? Circular Ventures LLC founder Myles Cohen will present results from a new national consumer packaging preference study conducted by an independent market research firm. While previous research has often focused on consumers’ attitudes toward recycling and environmental impact, this study examines how recyclability ranks relative to other factors that influence purchasing decisions.
Survey participants were asked to force-rank packaging recyclability alongside attributes such as price/value, brand preference, health claims, ingredient and nutrition labeling, and expiration dates. The results offer a clearer view of how recyclability compares with other drivers of product selection.
Shared publicly for the first time at the Packaging Recycling Summit, the presentation will also provide findings segmented by demographic factors. Based on the study’s insights, the research team developed a series of packaging communication and design recommendations that will also be presented. Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of how consumers prioritize packaging attributes and what the findings may mean for packaging strategy and brand communication.
